About - The Artist

Hi and thanks for visiting us, I’m James Davies and I’m the photographer behind all the images at the Kent Coast Gallery. I first started taking landscape photos in 2010 when I spent a year travelling through Asia, Australia and America. I was fortunate enough have the opportunity to photograph some unbelievable places including the mountains of Northern Thailand, jungles of Borneo, temples of Angkor in Cambodia, the Blue Mountains in Australia and Yellowstone National Park in the USA. On my return to living in Broadstairs a year later I would spend the summer evenings and stormy winter months photographing the beaches across the Thanet, Whitstable and Dover coasts. It was from here that my coastal collection you can see at the Kent Coast Gallery really started to grow and take shape as I soon began to realise that the sky’s around East Kent were some of the most colourful and dramatic that I had witnessed across the world. It is no wonder that Turner remarked “the skies over Thanet are the loveliest in all Europe”.

In between photographing the Kent coast I travel over to the United States 2 to 3 times a year to photograph the deserts in Utah & Arizona, the mountains of Colorado, the rain forests in Oregon and the dramatic coastline of Washington State. Over the last 4 years I have built up an extensive collection of fine art photographs which I also have on display in the Kent Coast Gallery. On rotation are large format fine art prints of Yosemite National Park, Canyonlands National Park in Utah, the Maroon Bells Mountain Range in Colorado, Olympic National Park, Antelope Canyon in Arizona and the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon.

I hope you enjoy the Kent Coast Gallery and if you have any questions or would like to talk about anything in regards to photography, including projects & commissions, then please get in touch with me at admin@kentcoastprints.com
